Chassis No. 12/15
This car is a beautiful and correctly restored example of one of only 33 G12s produced by Ginetta between 1966 and 1968. The chassis is typical of race car construction for the period; mid engine, multi-tube space frame with a fiberglass body, weighing only 1200 lbs. Fitted with a 1600cc Lotus twin cam engine with twin Weber carburetors and a Hewland 5 speed transaxle the performance of this car is outstanding. The front suspension is double wishbone with coil over shocks. Rear suspension is double radius arms, lower wishbone, with upper transverse links, and coil over shocks. Disc brakes are Girling front and rear grabbing on solid rotors.

Arthur Allen the head of the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles purchased this car new in 1967. The car was raced successfully in Cal Club and SCCA events on the west coast in the B Sports Racing category. As with most old racecars, it sat unused for many years. The car was eventually sold and the new owner performed a “ground up” cosmetic and mechanical restoration.

The car has been accepted and raced successfully in vintage races on the west coast including the Monterey Historic and HMSA events. The 1600cc Lotus twin cam engine has just been rebuilt by Dave Vegher and produces 197 HP. The Hewland Mk9 transmission has also been freshened. Currently both engine and transmission have less than one hour of track time. The car is completely sorted and race ready.

About Ginetta Cars
Ginetta Cars Ltd was a unique, British specialist car manufacturer that survived the upheavals of 30 years producing a vast array of limited production sports, racing and road cars. An important contributing factor to their survival is that the business was well and truly a ‘family affair’, since its inception, run by Bob, Ivor, Trevers and Douglas Walklett - four brothers each with great expertise in their respective fields of sales, design, styling and production.

By 1969 the company had made a small number of cars for club racing and street use in addition to full racing cars such as the G8 Formula 3 racing car, the GlO an exotic powerful 4.7 litre coupe the G11 similar in looks to the GlO but MGB engined. The mid-engined G12 was made in relatively small numbers. An out-and-out racing car, this car was dominant on race circuits winning many races outright in special GT races between 1966-1968.
