This 911 was one of a small batch of "Sport Purpose” 911 racing cars built by the factory in 1968 to compete in the SCCA Trans Am and B Sedan races. SCCA Champion John Kelly purchased this car new and kept it for over 37 years. The car was raced once by Kelly in an SCCA event, which he won (the tech sticker is still on the car). Because it was raced only once this car has not been modified to stay competitive over the years like so many other racecars. It retains it’s original engine and gearbox and is in proper period specification. The car comes with extensive documentation, books and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

Background
A very small batch of these “Sport Purpose” 911Ls were imported in 1968 for SCCA Trans Am and B Sedan Racing. These cars were sold as racecars and not intended for the street although they were streetable. In Europe these same cars were used for all types of rallies and for road racing.

These cars were built after the 911R and before the 911ST and are actually much more rare. There are THREE Known to exist in the U.S. This car is the ONLY Survivor that still retains it’s original components and is the BEST Example. It was a recent entrant in Rennsport III where it was a big hit. The car has 45 miles (most on the track at Daytona) and is on Absolutely Jewelry like New Condition. It has also recently been photographed for Jeff Swanson’s new Porsche book.
