About This Car
The Lamborghini Countach was among the most remarkable cars of their time.
Their striking appearance and extreme performance placed this car in a class
of its own. This particular car was owned by a collector who properly stored
and regularly started the car preserving it’s showroom condition. The
car was rarely driven and with only 2957 miles of use may have the fewest
miles of any Countach in the world. The tan leather Interior is flawless and
in NEW condition with reverse matching stitching throughout. The car comes
with the factory books and tool kit.
Canepa Upgrades
We have just performed a complete mechanical inspection and service to insure
all systems of this car are in perfect running order. The car has been road
tested and is ready to be driven as well as shown.
A full concours level cosmetic upgrade and detail have just been completed. Everything from the undercarriage, suspension, running gear, engine, interior and body have been cleaned to perfection and brought up to a new level of excellence. The car now is truly better than new and ready for the concours field.
The body has been completely color sanded and buffed to concours condition. All 11 grills on the car have been removed, stripped and powdercoated in satin black. The rear perforated cover panel has also been powdercoated satin black. All the window trim has been refinished and re-caulked to concours specification. The exhaust system has been hot coated, and all the suspension control arms have been refinished in satin black. This car is absolutely spotless!
The Countach is famous for it’s rear wing, but it masks the beautiful lines of the car. To reveal the pure form of the design of this car, the rear wing has been removed. It has been crated and comes with the car. In addition the car has been converted to factory Lamborghini European specification with a one-piece front bumper/air dam incorporating built in driving lights. The rear bumper appendages have also been removed. The wheels have been refinished in the factory Lamborghini gold metallic. The result is an understated elegance that sets this Countach apart from the pack and reveals the true beauty of the design.
Countach History
Lamborghini produced the Countach from 1974 to 1990. It popularized, but did
not pioneer, the wedge-shaped, sharply angled look popular in many high performance
cars since. It also popularized the “cabin-forward” design concept
that pushes the passenger compartment forward in order to accommodate a larger
engine.
The word countach is an exclamation of astonishment in the local
Piedmontese language - generally used by men on seeing an extremely beautiful
woman. While the term is considered untranslatable, it can be considered the
verbal equivalent of a Wolf Whistle.
5000QV
The Countach’s third major revision in March 1985 brought 4 valve heads. This model was badged as the 5000 Quattrovalvole but is better known as simply the QV. It was introduced at the ‘85 Geneva Auto Show. Engine stroke was increased to 75mm bringing total displacement to 5167cc. Compression was increased to 9.5:1. US cars received a specially engineered Bosch KE-Jetronic fuel injection bringing power to 420bhp at 7000rpm. Torque in the US cars was 340 lbft at 5000rpm.
In 2004, Sports Car International named this car number three
on the list of Top Sports Cars of the 1970s, and it was listed as number ten
on their list of Top Sports Cars of the 1980s.
total of 2,042 cars were built during the Countach’s sixteen year lifetime, with only 610 being the 5000QV model. With out a doubt the 1988 5000QV was the best version of all with fewer than 150 made.
420 Horsepower, 340 lbft of Torque
Top speed: 173 mph (279 km/h)
