Of all the Porsches made in the 1950s, Speedsters are certainly the most charismatic. First sold in 1955, the Speedster was conceived for Porsche’s American market as the entry level Porsche. For model year 1956, the entire 356 line under-went mechanical and chassis modifications and the revised and improved car was designated the 356A.
This particular car is a fully restored three owner car and is in concours condition. Purchased new in 1957 by Dr. Gordon Murray of Denver Co. this car remained in the Murray family until October 1987. It was always garaged and was in excellent condition when the second owner began a complete ground up restoration in 1993. The work was entrusted to Werks Restoration, Inc. of Golden Co. The car was taken completely apart, media blasted, and completely refinished to a very high standard. The engine was rebuilt to 1600 Super specifications at that time.
