Download complete information in a printable PDF document

A survivor. Totally original paint and interior in exceptional condition.

This Highland Green 1957 Chevy was purchased new at Smith Chevy in Grabill Indiana by Bill Flack. He ordered the car with a close ratio three speed, 3.7 rear end ratio, and the optional fuel injected 283 V8 with solid lifters and Corvette air cleaner. The exterior paint, engine, running gear as well as the interior are all original. With only 35,000 miles on the car it as close to showroom as you can get.

Mr. Flack owned the car for over 20 years, after his passing the car was sold to the founder of the Mr. Gasket company, Joe Hrudka of Cleveland Ohio. Mr. Hrudka had an extensive ‘57 Chevy collection and this particular car was one of it’s crown jewels. During his ownership, the engine compartment was detailed to concours condition.

The Bel Air was intended as a way for Chevrolet to out-style and out-power Ford, and thus to eventually take over Ford’s sales leadership. With production figures of 1.5 million in 1957, it nearly succeeded. Bel Air offered excitement in two ways. First, with bold new styling that included tailfins and hooded headlights. Second, was an all-new 283 cubic-inch Super Turbo-Fire V-8 that would be first on the market to offer Ramjet fuel injection.

The ‘57 Chevy is an icon of the era that endures today.
