The 1950 Series 61 Cadillac from the golden era of automobiles is the rarest and most sought after Cadillac for the Collector who also enjoys driving their investment. The Series 61 Cadillac is the short wheel base two door model of the Cadillac line which is lighter and more responsive than the standard large sedans.

This particular California car is an exceptionally well cared for example, having been driven only 59000 miles in the last 57 years. This vehicle has been repainted to the highest standards in its original black and stunning from all angles with chrome that is as bright as the day it left the dealership showroom. The wheels have been powdercoated to the interior color., A subtle change that makes a huge difference to the overall look of the vehicle. The interior of the car is factory original with only the carpets being replaced and in spectacular condition.

This Cadillac has been in the care of a major Northern California automotive collector whose collection is known the world over as being one of the best. The attention to detail and care given to this Cadillac are obvious when seen and heard. The previous owner used this vehicle in vintage automotive tours including The California Mille and Colorado Grand, and has made many upgrades to the performance and handling for extended days on the road. To accomplish this, the vehicle suspension has been lowered with stiffer springs, bilstein performance shocks, and a large front anti-roll bar added, along with wider tires (radial) and wheels. This insures a great ride along with much more responsive handling. The engine has been completely rebuilt with a 4 barrel carburetor, new higher compression pistons, rods, and reground performance cam. The transmission has been upgraded with a more modern four speed automatic. A new dual Magna Flow exhaust system has also been installed. The engine is fresh with less than 5000 miles of use.

The end result is a Cadillac that will cruise all day at freeway speeds and keep up with vintage sports cars on those winding roads. We have performed a complete mechanical inspection to insure that the car is in perfect running order, and ready to take you on your next tour. We only had to detail this stunning example of a 50’s original.

Cadillac History
Cadillac had extensive styling changes this year. They had low, sleek contours with longer rear decks, more sweeping front fenders and a broken rear fender line. The hood protruded further out at the front and was underlined by an even more massive egg crate grille. Round parking lights were used, but as in the past, when buyers chose fog lamps an additional bulb and larger housing were used. This setup combined the fog lamps and directional signals. One-piece windshields were introduced and the leading edge of the rear fenders, which had a broken-off look, was highlighted by chrome imitation air slots. The rear fenders were longer and ended in a swooping tail fin design. A Cadillac script again appeared on the sides of front fenders, but was now positioned closer to the front door opening gap. As far as Series 61 models went; a big styling change was a return to marketing this line on a shorter wheelbase than used on the 62s. This led to some styling differences. For example, the Series 61 sedan had no rear vent panes and featured a wraparound backlight (i.e., rear window). An identifying feature on both models was the absence of rocker panel moldings and rear quarter panel chrome underscores. Cars in Cadillac’s lowest-priced range also had bodies which were four inches shorter than the previous season.
