Custom 2 Door Hardtop
This beautiful California car has been stunningly customized with a true “Street
Rod” look, while retaining it’s basic classic “50’s
Fin” roots. This custom was built on a very solid, totally original,
and well preserved 59 Bonneville with only 33,000 pampered miles
on the odometer. The car had been garaged all its life and was in near perfect
condition before the custom work was done. The original interior is showroom
fresh, it has not been restored, only cleaned and preserved. The exterior
was also extremely clean, no rust, or accidents in 47 years.
This incredible clean original Bonneville was then customized with a lowered Air-Ride Technologies suspension, and custom 18” front and rear wheels by Budnik with BFGoodrich 245/40ZR 18 (front), 475/40ZR 18 radial tires. All distracting chrome emblems, mirrors, etc. were removed. An Alpine CD stereo system was tucked out of site for listening to those great 60’s tunes, and the 315 horsepower produced by the 389cid motor is audibly enhanced thru the Flowmaster exhaust system.
315 Horsepower — 420 ft.lbs. @ 2800 RPM
Engine: 386cid V8 with Tri-power carburetion
0-60MPH: 8.2 seconds
Transmission: HydroMatic
Bonneville History
The year 1959 was a breakout year for Pontiac. The Bonneville played an important
part that year in the introduction of two of Pontiac’s greatest marketing
inspirations — the split grille and the Wide Track slogan. The latter
was not just ad copy, either, as Pontiac pushed its wheels further out toward
the fenders than anyone else and created what were considered to be the best-cornering
full-size cars in the industry.. 1959 also introduced new engines claimed
to be “The most Modern in the Industry”. The Tempest 420 (389
cu in) engine was available with a two-barrel, 4-barrel, or optional Tri-power
(3 2-barrel) carburetion that year. All of the motors could be coupled to
an improved Super Hydra-matic transmission.
